Particulars of the course:

The ear is a microsystem. By massaging and stimulating specific areas of the ear it is possible to affect nerves, muscles, and organs. These techniques are based on the teachings of world-renowned expert, Dr. Liu Chun Huang. Dr. Huang’s protocols can be adapted to many types of patients; ear medicine is easily accessible to all types of health care providers, from doctors to acupuncturists to massage therapists.

The course is formatted to enrich your practice by adding a service – auricular reflexology. You, and your clients, might be surprised at how relaxing an ear massage really is, and how beneficial it is for the entire body.

In fact, ear reflexology and ear massage were practiced by many civilizations in ancient Europe and Asia. It was a widely held belief that ear reflexology promotes longevity, reduces digestive disharmony, eases pain, and speeds healing of tissues and organs.

Modern research shows that the ear is the only place on the external body where the vagus nerve is accessible. The vagus nerve is a part of the parasympathetic nervous system and induces a calming state. This may be the reason that ear reflexology is so successful in managing conditions known to be stubborn or difficult to treat such as migraine, insomnia and TMDD.

By pressing, pulling, stretching and massaging regions of the ear, one is able to stimulate regions of the body that correspond to anatomical and neurological reflexes.

You will learn how to stimulate regions and points that correspond to the head, back, pelvis, limbs, and brain. A region on the ear contains points that reflect an anatomical area. For example, the antitragus, the small flap of cartilage above the lobe, corresponds to the head and brain. Specific points such as Temple, Forehead and Vertex address headaches corresponding to these regions.

Having studied and practiced both auricular massage and acupuncture, Michelle combines western and eastern approaches. She shares practical tips on how to treat multiple conditions, using ear massage and ear seeding, and she also cites research and western medicine approaches to ear stimulation that will make this course even more informative.
